Laura received her Bachelor of Arts from Bates College with a degree in Gender & Sexuality Studies. She completed her midwifery training at Yale University where she earned a Master of Science in Nursing as a National Health Service Corps Scholar.

After working in art libraries in Boston, Laura moved to New Haven in 2002 and has lived and worked in town since. She practiced midwifery in community health centers until 2011 when she joined Women’s Health Associates. She became a partner in 2015 and has been the sole owner since 2017. Laura practices full scope midwifery and maintains a colposcopy practice for her group. She serves as a midwifery representative on the OB Patient Safety and OB Council Committees at Yale New Haven Hospital. Laura has clinical faculty appointments at the Yale School of Nursing and Frontier Nursing University and participates in the training of Yale OB/GYN residents. Laura has recently enjoyed presenting her experience as a midwife business owner at academic and professional conferences. Laura was the 2020 recipient of the Debbie Cibelli Award for midwifery contribution to Yale resident education and will be inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Nurse Midwives in the spring of 2022.

Laura's favorite part of being a midwife is the privilege of shared learning and long conversations with the patients in her practice. Outside of work, Laura is a fan of licorice, Netflix and sushi with her family, winter sunlight, heavy weights, and ocean beaches on the outer Cape.
